<\/a>The nominees for the 2014 Kobzar Literary Award, handed out every other year in recognition of Canadian books that present \u201ca Ukrainian Canadian theme with literary merit,\u201d include poetry, a play, a \u201cfolk history,\u201d and a pair of novels (including one for kids). The shortlist is as follows:<\/p>\n\n- Luba, Simply Luba<\/em> by Diane Flacks, with Andrew Tarasiuk and Luba Goy, (Scirocco Drama\/J.Gordon Shillingford, 2013)<\/li>\n
- The Unmemntioable<\/em> by Erin Mour\u00e9 (House of Anansi Press, 2012)<\/li>\n
- Baba\u2019s Kitchen Medicines<\/em> by Michael Mucz (University of Alberta Press, 2012)<\/li>\n
- Blood and Salt<\/em> by Barbara Sapergia <\/a>(Coteau Books, 2012)<\/li>\n
- Making Bombs for Hitler<\/em> by Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch (Scholastic Canada, 2012)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Each of the finalists will read from their work on Oct. 27 as part of Toronto\u2019s International Festival of Authors. The $25,000 prize will be handed out on March 5.<\/p>\n
